As one of the last activities to celebrate the city’s 100th birthday, a time capsule will be buried at 9:00 am at the Sand Springs Cultural & Historical Museum at 9 E Broadway.
The Sand Springs Area Chamber of Commerce, along with the Sand Springs Museum and the Sand Springs Centennial Planning Committee, collected items over the past year from Sand Springs residents. Items going into the time capsule include letters from Mayor Mike Burdge and City Manager Rocky Rogers, newspaper articles from the last year, centennial t-shirts, pins and other memorabilia.
The time capsule is schedule to be opened at the Sesquicentennial Celebration for Sand Springs in 2062.
