The Sand Springs Police Department and City of Sand Springs Emergency Management are encouraging all citizens within the city limits of Sand Springs or citizens who are serviced by the Sand Springs Fire Department to register their storm shelters.
This registration is a free service provided by the City of Sand Springs and will allow quicker rescue response in the event of a tornado. A database of private storm shelters is being kept in the event of a tornado strike, so that first responders may check on those locations where survivors are most likely to be found. This list will only be used for rescue activities, and will not be used for commercial marketing or other non-emergency related purposes.
The registration is online, but citizens may also phone their information in to the Emergency Operations Center by calling (918)246-2610.
To register online, citizens may go to www.sandspringspolice.org and select the link for Emergency Management.
It may also be noted, there are no “public” shelters available in the City of Sand Springs.
Citizens within the city limits of Sand Springs may also want to sign up for our Emergency Phone Notification System. This system will alter the subscriber to impending tornados or other emergency situations within Sand Springs.
Both of these services are free to residents and businesses of Sand Springs, and are part of our commitment to the citizens of Sand Springs.
