[ARCHIVED] Special "Chipper Day" Set for Storm Debris Cleanup

Tree limbs can be disposed of at the City’s Street Division facility, 8620 W. 21st St. (a half-mile east of the intersection of Adams Road and Morrow Road on 21st Street), from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Participants must bring a City of Sand Springs utility bill showing residential refuse service for admittance. No commercial firms or contractors will be allowed.

For those who cannot utilize this special Chipper Day, the monthly Chipper Day for August will be held the following Saturday, August 3, 2013, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Street Department facility.

Although special curbside pickup of tree limb debris is not being provided in Sand Springs, residents can bundle tree limbs and brush and place them next to their trash polykart for regular collection by the City’s Solid Waste Division. Bundles cannot exceed 4 feet in length and 35 pounds in weight. Tree limbs in the bundles cannot exceed 4 inches in diameter. All bundles must be tied.

Residents can place up to eight bags or bundles with their trash polykart each week for collection without an additional charge. Due to the excessive volume of tree limbs expected for collection, Solid Waste crews may not be able to take all eight bags or bundles at one time in the coming week. Residents are asked to be patient and place bundles not initially collected back out with their next week’s trash.
