The City of Sand Springs recognized the winner of a student poster contest during the April 28, 2025, City Council meeting. The winning artwork, created by Taylor Payne, a Northwoods Fine Arts Academy elementary student, has been transformed into a full-size vinyl mural wrap on one of the City’s trash trucks. The project is part of an ongoing effort by the City’s Stormwater Project Manager, Julianna Monnot, to promote environmental awareness and responsible water quality practices through community outreach and education.
As part of the City’s public education efforts, the Stormwater Project Manager visited 4th and 5th grade classrooms at Northwoods Fine Arts Academy to launch the inaugural poster contest. City staff selected the top two entries, with the final winning design being featured on a city trash truck as a colorful and creative reminder to make good environmental choices.
The truck will also be on display at the school district’s upcoming “Truck Touch” event on Saturday, May 3, at Charles Page High School from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sand Springs Truck Touch, hosted by Angus Valley Elementary, is a hands-on career fair where children of all ages can climb aboard their favorite community vehicle and talk to the driver about their job.
