Due to the forecast of severe weather in the area, the City of Sand Springs has made the difficult decision to cancel the 36th Annual Herbal Affair scheduled for Saturday, April 19.
This beloved springtime festival, which draws thousands of visitors each year and features over 150 vendors, was set to take place in the heart of downtown Sand Springs. However, the safety of our guests, vendors, and community members is our top priority. After careful consideration of the forecast and consultation with public safety officials, it became clear that cancellation was the most responsible course of action.
“We know how much our community looks forward to this event each year,” said Mike Carter, City Manager. “While we share in the disappointment, the well-being of our attendees, vendors, and staff must come first.”
We want to thank all of our vendors, volunteers, and city staff who have worked so hard in preparation for this year’s Herbal Affair. While this year’s event won’t go on as planned, we’re already looking ahead to making the 2026 festival one to remember. In late April, the City will be kicking off construction of the next phase of downtown streetscape improvements. Those improvements, along with a new downtown community plaza, will create more space and amenities for future festivals.
Although the downtown event is not being rescheduled, our event team is working on some future opportunities for vendors to participate in community activities this summer at Case Community Park, which will be announced soon. Please stay connected with us through the City’s website and social media accounts or the Herbal Affair Facebook Page Herbal Affair Facebook Page for future updates and announcements. Thank you for your understanding and continued support of this cherished Sand Springs tradition.
